TEASER FADE IN: EXT. MANOR - AFTERNOON. INT. MANOR - STAIRCASE. PRUE descends the stairs talking on her cell. PRUE Yes, Rachel, I'm quite aware of the special circumstances of this collection. But with all the extra work I've been given these past few days, I - (beat) No, I'm not complaining, it's just - (beat) Yes, I can handle it but - (beat) Hello? Hello? (hangs up, annoyed) You have a good day too. CUT TO: INT. MANOR - SITTING ROOM - CONTINUOUS. Prue enters the living room where PIPER is busy with paperwork. Piper looks up and raises an eyebrow. PIPER What was that all about? PRUE Oh, just work stuff. Nothing important. Prue slumps into the couch beside Piper, right on top of a binder full of papers. PIPER Prue! Watch it! PRUE Oww! (looks behind her) What are these? PIPER You just sat on my figures. PRUE Your figures? Prue grabs the folder out from under her and takes a cursory look, scanning the pages. PRUE (CONT'D) Is this for your new club? These numbers look pretty high! PIPER (grabs binder from Prue) I know. But I'm still sorting a few things out. Hopefully, when I've got a better idea of what I'm doing, the costs will go down, and it won't seem so bad. PRUE Well, I hope so, Piper - you've invested all your savings into that club, and if that's your yearly expenses - PIPER (interrupting) Monthly. PRUE (aghast) Monthly?! PIPER Well, actually, that's just how much I need to start the club up. (off Prue's look) Anyway, don't you have somewhere to be and someone to pick up? Prue remembers. Looking sheepish, she hurriedly stands up. PRUE Phoebe! I completely forgot! (glancing at watch) She'll be finishing her lecture soon. She walks toward her coat and purse. PRUE (CONT'D) It's weird to think of her at college. I'm still getting used to the idea of her taking classes - and psychology ones - at that. Reaching her purse, she grabs her coat, keys and purse. PRUE (CONT'D) If I hurry, I should just make it. PIPER (looks back down at her papers) Uh-huh. Slipping the strap of her purse over her shoulder, Prue nestles her coat in the crook of her arm and walks to the front door. PRUE (O.S.) I'll be back soon, Piper. PIPER (flicks through her papers) Don't hurry back on my account. The sound of the door closing is heard as Piper continues to look through her papers. CUT TO: EXT. COLLEGE CAMPUS - AFTERNOON. A grand, grey-bricked university building sits amidst the well tended gardens of the campus, as students and professors alike pass by. INT. COLLEGE CAMPUS - LECTURE HALL. PHOEBE is seated toward the front of the room, surrounded by other students. A book is open in front of her and she is listening to RYAN HUNTER, 28, the professor, standing at the front of the room. Tall, clean - shaven, athletic build, with black hair cut short and penetrating blue eyes, he is incredibly handsome. Dressed smartly, he leans against a desk. RYAN OK. That about covers it for today. Students begin packing up their things; the noise in the room rises. Phoebe puts her book into her bag, and then slings her bag over her shoulder. Ryan raises his voice to be heard over the noise. RYAN (CONT'D) Remember that your essays are due two weeks before the end of term. Hopefully, by now, you should have picked your topic. The students moan as they leave. Ryan walks behind the desk and begins organizing some papers. Phoebe walks up to him. PHOEBE Professor Hunter -? RYAN (stops shuffling his papers; looks up) Please, call me Ryan. PHOEBE (smiles) OK. Ryan. I was wondering if I could discuss my essay topic with you? You see, it's something a little different. Ryan looks at her expectantly. Phoebe hesitates, trying to judge his response. After more hesitation, Ryan speaks. RYAN Which would be ...? PHOEBE (rushing) Witchcraft. I wanted to do my paper on the supernatural, focusing specifically on witchcraft. Ryan moves to the front of the desk and, leaning against it, folds his arms in front of his chest. Here's a topic for a student paper he hasn't heard before. RYAN Witchcraft. That is different. Especially for a psychology paper. (beat) What made you choose that? PHOEBE Umm, let's just say it's a subject I'm very interested in. RYAN Interesting it may be, but when it comes to researching and proving the existence of witches and supernatural beings, you may find you run into some problems. PHOEBE (smiles) You'd be surprised at the amount of information I've collected over the past year. RYAN Well, as long as you can write a solid, structured, and factual essay on your topic, then I have no problem with it. Phoebe sees Prue walk up to the door behind Ryan as he continues. RYAN (CONT'D) In fact, witchcraft has intrigued me for quite some time now. A look of horror crosses over Prue's face. What the hell is her sister thinking? Phoebe sees her reaction and hurriedly ends the conversation. She's going to have some explaining to do. PHOEBE (rushing) Really? That's great. Well, I'll see you later, Ryan. Phoebe walks towards Prue. RYAN (smiles) OK. Bye, Phoebe. A girl, MIRANDA STEVENS, 21, enters the room and walks past Phoebe. Phoebe smiles at her. They know each_other. PHOEBE Hey, Miranda. MIRANDA Hey, Phoebe. Phoebe continues to walk towards Prue. Miranda's voice is heard in the distance. MIRANDA (O.S.) (CONT'D) Hey, Ryan. I've brought that document for you to sign - CUT TO: INT. COLLEGE CAMPUS - CORRIDOR - CONTINUOUS. Phoebe finally reaches Prue, who grabs her arm, and they begin walking. Prue is pissed. PRUE Phoebe, what are you thinking? Do you tell everyone about our family secret? Even strangers? (beat) Granted he's a cute stranger but still. PHOEBE (interrupting) Prue, relax. I didn't tell him anything. I was just asking about whether I could focus on witchcraft for my paper. That's all. She sees a fluoro-pink piece of paper in Prue's hand. PHOEBE (CONT'D) What's that? PRUE Hum? Oh, well, your friend was handing them out. Since I was waiting for you, I was trapped and had to take one. Prue looks at the piece of paper. PRUE (CONT'D) They're still handing these out? You know, when I was in college, we had the same thing - PHOEBE (interrupting) Oh, great. Another ramble down memory lane. Can I have that? Phoebe grabs the piece of paper from Prue. Camera zooms in on Phoebe's face as she experiences a PREMONITION. She sees Ryan being flung across the room by a MAN dressed completely in black. Ryan slams into the desk at the front of the room, toppling it and breaking nearby chairs. He slumps to the ground, unconscious. The man turns. He has grey skin and two curved horns protruding from his head. He walks forward, grabs Miranda, and hisses. A forked tongue is revealed. The premonition ends and the camera zooms back to rejoin Phoebe and Prue in the corridor. Phoebe, wavers on her feet as Prue, looking concerned, steadies her. PRUE Phoebe, what is it? What did you see? Phoebe tries to compose herself. RYAN (O.S.) Hey, where did you come from? Hearing Ryan, Phoebe looks to Prue, serious. PHOEBE I think I saw this. Both run towards the lecture room. CUT TO: INT. COLLEGE CAMPUS - LECTURE HALL - CONTINUOUS. Prue and Phoebe arrive in time to see the man throw Ryan across the room into the desk. The man turns, grabs Miranda, and hisses. PHOEBE (to Prue) Aah, Prue. I think that's your cue. What are you waiting for? The man turns and hisses at Prue and Phoebe. Prue motions with her arm to send him flying. Nothing happens. PRUE Err. It's not working, Phoebe! PHOEBE What?! The man laughs, hoists Miranda over his shoulder, then disappears in a flash of white light. Prue and Phoebe are left staring at each other. PHOEBE (CONT'D) Prue? (beat) What just happened? PRUE (worried) I don't know. But whatever it was, it certainly wasn't good. OPENING CREDITS INT. COLLEGE CAMPUS - LECTURE HALL - AFTERNOON. Prue and Phoebe are still trying to figure out what just happened. Ryan comes to. He's groggy and confused. RYAN (trying to get up) What was that all about? Prue and Phoebe move to him and help him stand. A black datebook falls from Prue's bag to the floor behind some of the broken chairs. She doesn't notice. PHOEBE (searching) Um, that was - Ryan, now standing, interrupts her. RYAN Wow, that guy was strong. (beat) And his face - I didn't see it clearly, but was he on drugs or something? Prue and Phoebe look at each_other. Thank God for his explanation. They run with it. PHOEBE Ah, yeah, drugs. That's it. They're a major problem in colleges across the country. PRUE (nodding, a bit too obvious) Major problem. Huge. Ryan looks at them, suspicious, then crosses to his overturned desk. Righting it, he is about to pick up his papers when, casting around, he realizes Miranda is no longer there. Frowning, he turns back to the sisters. RYAN What happened to -? PRUE (interrupting) Are you going to be OK? Because we have to go. RYAN (rubbing the back of his head, distracted) What? (beat) Oh, yeah. Don't worry about me - I get this all the time from students unhappy with their grades. I'll be fine. PRUE (breaking syllables) O-K. (beat) Phoebe, let's go. (to Ryan) It was nice meeting you. Prue walks towards the door. Phoebe follows. Ryan is still trying to come to terms with what happened. He's confused and searching for some sort of explanation. PHOEBE Bye, Ryan. (beat) Sorry about the mess. RYAN What? He looks up and sees various chairs broken. RYAN (CONT'D) Oh, great. Looking more closely, he notices the datebook nestled in between two chairs. He walks over and picks it up. He turns, but Prue and Phoebe have already left. CUT TO: EXT. NIGHTCLUB - LATE AFTERNOON. INT. NIGHTCLUB - STAIRWAY/BAR. Piper is standing inside her new club. Two men - a TRADESMAN and an INVESTMENT BANKER are also present. Piper looks worried as the tradesman measures the stairwell and the investment banker hovers over him, taking notes. TRADESMAN This staircase is 5 inches too narrow. INVESTMENT BANKER That could be a safety hazard. PIPER I'm sure it's fixable. TRADESMAN (turns to her) And you'll have to get the pipes fixed in the bathrooms - otherwise you'll have water seeping into the walls. INVESTMENT BANKER Now that doesn't sound good. PIPER I'll get somebody on it right away. TRADESMAN (pointing) Those floorboards over there will also need replacing. They're completely hollow. INVESTMENT BANKER You don't think it could be termites, do you? PIPER OK. Time out. Piper's had enough. She freezes them. She goes behind the bar and grabs a water bottle from under the counter. As she does so, Prue and Phoebe enter. They see the frozen men, share a look, then continue to Piper. PHOEBE Piper, we have a problem. PIPER (taking a gulp of water) You're telling me. I'm beginning to understand why this place went belly up. Piper returns the cap on the water bottle, leaving it on the bar top as Prue speaks.
